Clitoral hood reduction and sculpting involves eliminating excess tissue found on the sides of the clitoral hood. This treatment designed to create a normal petite and sculpted clitoral hood. The feathering procedure we used with which incisionless can achieve this without cutting and smoothing out the appearance of the clitoral hood. Additionally, it allows the labia to become closer to the clitoris.
Clitoral hood reduction can be conveniently performed along with a majora or minora labiaplasty. The removal of the labia can create a larger clitoris appearance. A reduction in the amount of tissue on the sides and top of the clitoral hood is needed in 90% of labiaplasty cases and is usually performed at the same time as labiaplasty. The purpose of this is to remove the excess skin and to allow for adequate removal of labial tissue to which the hood skin attaches. Also, this allows for a sleeker and less top-heavy appearance coupled with avoiding a new issue of having the annoying pinching and rubbing just move to the hood area following labiaplasty.
When the clitoral hood is being reduced, the clitoris and nerves are not actually affected. This is not a circumcision procedure. The entire process conducted under local anesthesia or sedation within the office and can be completed in approximately 30 minutes. Dr. Ayoub will perform a clitoral hood reduction in her office to remove the excess skin folds or may also do an incision-less feathering procedure in the region. When the hood skin is being reduced care is taken not to affect the erectile tissue nor disturb the nerves. While this procedure often performed at the same time as labiaplasty, it can be and has been done as a separate single procedure, especially if women had prior labioplasty with another surgeon and clitoral hood surgery has not been done prior.
